My best friend Janell came over today (she lives an hour away) to cut my hair and let our kids (hers are 4 & 2) play. Henry loves her daughter Jayla. He always looks forward to her visits. They've been friends for a long time. I'll dig up a baby photo of them! Well today while they were watching the end of Frozen together, Henry emulated the ending by planting a big kiss on Jayla's mouth. Jayla just smiled shyly. Ack! I proceeded to tell Henry that was not okay and gentlemen don't steal kisses. I said he was too young to kiss anyone but me and grandma(s). He replied that he was NOT too young and he "likes girls!" Sigh. I thought I was done with the life lessons until later in the afternoon Jayla's brother Jayden tackled her to the ground and Henry shouted, "Get off her!!" While literally throwing the brother off. And finally, while they were all playing monster and running away from Gabe (the current monster), Jayla tripped and fell. Henry stopped running, turned around and quickly helped her up before holding her hand and running with her. Do you think it's safe to say Henry has his first crush? I'm torn between making sure he stays a gentlemen and age appropriate and beaming with pride at how much he cares for her. She's like his first little girlfriend =)

Henry's Eye Doctor Appointment
April 16
A month or so ago the preschool advised me to have Henry's eyes checked. I haven't noticed anything but they said he consistently puts papers near his face when he's looking at them. I thought it was better to get checked out just in case. Henry was pretty excited about the whole experience. Obviously he can't read quite yet so they had pictures and other ways to get him to tell them what he saw. In the end the eye doctor, who is also an eye surgeon I found out, checks his eyes and can tell how well he can see. Henry has perfect vision. The doctor said it's not uncommon at all at Henry's age to do very close up reading and sometimes it will switch to him holding things out very far. Henry won't need to be checked again until 1st grade.
In order for them to check his eyes properly, they had to dilate them. Henry did well throughout the drops process but was very upset to have the bright sunlight hurt his eyes when we left. They gave him sunglasses (more like a plastic sheet of paper) to put over his eyes but he didn't like it. In the end I let him wear my sunglasses and he thought that was cool. When we got home Gabe was jealous so we had to let him try them on too.

Easter Egg Hunt
April 12
We had a very exciting day today. My group of mom friends got together to have an Easter egg hunt. Stephanie hosted at her house. We all brought side dishes and had a cookout outside. The kids were super excited about the eggs. Henry is a pro at this but this year was Gabe's first year out. He did great. He was a little confused at first thinking other kids wanted to steal the eggs he already had in his basket, then he realized they were getting all the eggs off the ground and quickly caught on he had to move or lose his chance. I didn't see Henry too much because he's big enough now he just runs around with the older boys and gets eggs. He had quite a haul so apparently did fine without me!
After hunting eggs, we all had lunch and the kids played outside. I'm so glad the weather is finally starting to warm up. It was in the 50s/60s so a bit cool but perfect for kids running around after eggs and each other!

Helper Gabe
April 10
Gabe has discovered my Swiffer vacuum. I think he likes that it's motorized more than helping me out. After cleaning all the wood floors in the downstairs, he moved to the living room. Here he is, very confused, why the Swiffer won't work on carpet. Also, those are PJs, not a costume as someone once asked me =)

Doctor Visit for Andrew
April 9
I made an appointment for Andrew after Kim mentioned the acid reflux thing. I thought it might be a fools errands but turned out it wasn't. He had several signs of acid reflux: arching, belching like an adult, when he does spit up and it comes out his nose, hiccupping, and frequent eating. Poor guy is on medication now for it. They say it usually clears up by a year but we'll check him again at 6 months to see how he's doing. Hope the medication helps! I feel bad I didn't notice sooner.

Feeding Marathon Begins
April 7-9
Monday the 7th was the day I started throwing out the bottles to get the babies to eat just from me. It's rough. There's no other way to put it. They're both really angry about it. Andrew is the worst. His latch isn't great yet so there's a lot of encouraging and helping. I am literally going from one baby to the next. Most of the time with the other crying because he/she is hungry too. I'm not tandem feeding yet because neither is efficient or a strong enough latcher to make it work. That will be a future goal! I'm tired but by the end of day three, I think they've finally caught on well enough. Let's hope this is the last of half/half breastfeeding/bottles!
On another note, we had another visit from cousin Andrea and Chloe. The last time they were here, Chloe made me the sweetest necklace. That necklace has since caused a problem with the older boys because they both want to wear/play with it. I finally asked if Chloe could make another for Henry. She let him pick his colors: purple, green and white. The colors that happen to be on his Ninja Turtle cup at the time. She brought him the necklace and it's been wonderful ever since!
Chloe just loves the babies. She's a great help with them too. I'm going to have to have her come back sometime to give cuddles so I can have a break =)

Hello Again Dentist & Surprise Kristie!
April 5
I've had a rough few days with my new crown. At first I thought it as just the gums healing but now my ears ache and I feel like half my face is going to explode. I ended up calling the dentist's emergency line at about 10 pm last night asking what I could do for the pain. He was willing to call in something for me to a 24 hour pharmacy but I was worried anything that would cut into the pain would transfer to the babies. In the end I decided to forego medication and meet the dentist the next morning. Turns out my "bite" was off. I'm immensely relieved because the next step would have been a root canal and I couldn't get that done right away. It's still pretty sore but the dentist promises that will go away. Again... in a few days. Sigh.
I didn't let the dentist bit get me down though. The older boys were dropped off at Grandmas and the twins came with me and Mike to a surprise birthday party for my friend Kristie. It was a lot of fun and Kristie was completely surprised. Her husband really went above and beyond for her on her 30th birthday! We all agreed he set the standard too high for the rest of the husbands in our group =)
