Dozeman/Griswold Vacation Day 3

Dozeman/Griswold Vacation Day 3

We didn’t get up super early but we were on the road by 9:30 a.m. We unfortunately missed breakfast. Who only has breakfast until 9? So we did drive thru. We wanted to get going so we ate in the car. Oh! Aimee brought walkie-talkies. And they work! We are able to talk to each other over them instead of using our phones to text or anything. It’s super convenient and nice when we just have a quick thing to say like, “Getting off at the next exit,” or “How about we have lunch soon?” Neither of us thought very far in advance though and apparently, it takes two full days of being on and the batteries die. We had to stop by a Walgreens to buy more batteries. Oops!

Overall the driving was pretty routine. We all were kind of tired of driving by this point. The kids were tired of movies and games. There were a lot more fights in the back seat. Henry even fell asleep! Everyone wanted a lot more bathroom breaks just to get out of the car. It seemed like our destination was just too far away. But then, we were finally within 15 minutes of getting there. And Gabe almost pees his pants.

Poor kid had to go but we missed the exit with the bathrooms. The next exit with bathrooms, or a rest stop, was 45 miles. We tried to exit but out first exit said there was no reentry onto the highway. We didn’t want that. So we had to keep going. We drove forever and there were just no exits to get off. Poor Gabe was getting desperate. We considered pulling over, but this is swamp country. There’s no privacy like back home with lots of trees or corn fields to go into. Just endless urban areas or grass.

Anyways, we finally find an exit and pull off. We can’t find a business anywhere. It’s all houses and residential areas. Then we find a park with a playground and we hope there’s something there. Well, there is. A stinky, lonely porta-potty. But, beggars can’t be choosers and, hey, it got the job done.

After everyone who needed to made use of the stinky porta-potty, we were off again! It wasn’t long until we reached the house and we villa! We made it through security and had no problems getting into the house. Everything looks great. The house is all ready for us. We are super excited to be here. We made decent timing. We arrived by 5:30 p.m.

We spent the rest of the evening unpacking the cars, unpacking the suitcases, ordering Chinese food and eventually splitting up the duties. Aimee and I were grocery shopping while Rich and Mike stayed back and swam with the kids. There’s a new Walmart that just opened up the road. We usually go to Target. I should have gone to Target. But we braved the new Walmart and after having Black Friday like shopping experiences, we made it back in one piece. Busiest Walmart ever.

By now it was getting late and time for the kids to go to bed. We got everyone put in bed and crashed ourselves. We need a good nights rest before we all head to DISNEY WORLD tomorrow!
